Welcome to my blog. This online exhibition aims to explore the concepts of space and place. These terms are almost interchangeable in everyday speech, but have significantly different meaning when used as architectural
terms. People can have a variety of perspectives towards them, depending on their experiences and culture. What one person considers to be a memorable place, someone else may view simply as space and vice versa. This website is a collection of the results of my artwork, examining the idea of spaces and places derived from personal experiences and other people who moving away from home memories. The artworks have been developed using various artists’ methodologies and shown through the media of photographs, photomontages, installation arts and films.
INTRODUCTION
Place and Space
Space is a basic tool of architecture perceived by the existence of light. It is everywhere, both within and without buildings, and can be created using man-made and natural objects. It is that which is between objects when forming geometrical three-dimensional structures.

Place refers to something which people become aware of or are attracted to. A place can be regarded as a space that has a meaning.
According to philosopher Yi-Fu Tuan, the difference between ‘space’ and ‘place’ can be described in the extent to which human beings have given meaning to a specific area. Meaning can be derived directly, from the building, or indirectly, via symbols or artwork.) (Tuan, 1997,p.6)

These exploration of place and space and the feeling of home will be use later to develop the installation surface into architectural surface.
